Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Boy

Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Boy
Sideshow Freak
(1868-1904)
Born in ##4328>Finland</a>
Birth name was Fedor Jefticheff (Jeftichew)
Suffered from Hypertrichosis

WHY HE MIGHT BE ANNOYING

He has mistakenly been listed as being born in St. Petersberg, ##5359>Russia</a>, but was actually born in ##4328>Finland</a>, which at the time was part of the Czarist Russian empire.
He father, Adrian Jefticheff, was just as hairy faced as he and was part of a European sideshow act as well, but is never mentioned in the same vein as his son.
Once ##12161>P.T. Barnum</a> employed his services, the huckster had no use for his father and told the general public that a hunter had tracked him and his father to their cave and captured them. The father was described as savage and could not be civilized. Another story had him as an orphan raised by wolves.
He was sometimes mistaken for Stefan Bibrowski, known in the freak circuit as Lionel the Lion-Faced Man.
His name is synonymical with 'freak.'

WHY HE MIGHT NOT BE ANNOYING

He was often in ill health.
He didn't particularly enjoy being a freak, but he was well paid for the cruel twist of fate nature played on him.
He spoke fluent Russian, German, and English.
He toured Europe and the ##1776>U.S.</a> extensively and was treated very well.
##2024>Annette Funicello</a> had a hit song titled 'Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Boy.' (1959)
He died of pneumoniaat age 36. (1904)

Be careful of overlong reasons. These could really be shortened down:

He has mistakenly been listed as being born in St. Petersberg, ##5359>Russia</a>, but was actually born in ##4328>Finland</a>, which at the time was part of the Czarist Russian empire.

He was mistakenly listed as being born in Russia.

He father, Adrian Jefticheff, was just as hairy faced as he and was part of a European sideshow act as well, but is never mentioned in the same vein as his son.

His father was just as hairy-faced, yet never received the same amount of publicity.

Once ##12161>P.T. Barnum</a> employed his services, the huckster had no use for his father and told the general public that a hunter had tracked him and his father to their cave and captured them. The father was described as savage and could not be civilized. Another story had him as an orphan raised by wolves.

##12161>P.T. Barnum</a> spread false stories that he had been found in a cave, or that he had been raised by wolves.

"If you can't read, it doesn't matter. That's just as simple as that. I mean, I know it doesn't sound very nuanced or sophisticated, but it's true. It's the absolute truth."
