WHY HE MIGHT BE ANNOYING

He is arrogant.
He refers to himself as ‘a god.’
His writing style is dense and pretentious.
His books are full of unpleasant characters and sordid situations.
He is criticized for political bias and shoddy research in his nonfiction.
His books have been made into several film flops.
His father, the famous novelist ##10673>Kingsley Amis</a>, called him ‘bright, but a fucking fool.’
He spent $30,000 getting his bad teeth fixed, and then whined about how painful the operation was.

He’s won several writing awards.
He has a large following of fans and critics.
He’s been called ‘the best American writer England has ever produced’ and ‘the ##1147>Mick Jagger</a> of literature.’
