Jim Borgman

Jim Borgman
Cartoonist
(February 24, 1952- )
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio
Graduated Kenyon College (1976)
Political cartoonist for the Cincinnati Enquirer (1976- )
Co-creator and cartoonist for comic strip 'Zits' (1997- )
Pulitzer Prize winner (1991)
4-time Reuben Award winner (1986, 1990, 1999, 2001)

Why he might be annoying:
He supports affirmative action.
Some of his cartoons' meanings and references go right over most peoples' heads.
Much like Chris Matthews, the far left considers him part of the conservative agenda, while the far right considers him part of the liberal agenda.

Why he might not be annoying:
Despite living in a far-right leaning city like Cincinnati, he is considered to have center-left political viewpoints.
He has been praised for his editorial cartoons for historical moments such as September 11, the Challenger and Columbia Disasters, and the Columbine High School Massacre.
Ryan White's family thanked him openly for his touching memorial cartoon after Ryan's death.
The Washington Post, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and L.A. Times have all made offers for him to work for them.
He declined, opting to stay in Cincinnati, saying 'it was Cincinnati that made me...if I left Cincinnati, I wouldn't be Jim Borgman anymore.'
Every city election year, there is a write-in campaign for him for Cincinnati City Council.
Although he supported John Kerry for President in 2004, he said 'I'm not upset about Bush's re-election at all...he's so much funner to draw.'
He is left handed.
