GAYLE - She's the shot in the arm the current pop music scene needs right now. Some critics are calling her an industry plant (all because she has Kara DioGuardi helping her out?), but some of us music fans are tired of having card-carrying payola artists like Beyonce, Bieber and the Chainsmokers being constantly forced down our throats by the music biz, and Gayle just appears to be a rare bright spot for pop music these days (even if she cusses like a sailor in all her songs). Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson - Even though the band is long past its prime and Ian's voice is all but destroyed (a year or so ago he said he now suffers from COPD) they still put out some decent songs ("The Zealot Gene", the title cut from their new upcoming album, is pretty good, and I like how it contains a stealth jab at Trump in the lyrics too) The Cincinnati Bengals - I'm not a football or pro-sports fan (Jelle's Marble racing, Battlebot combat and Japanese women's joshi pro wrestling is more my thing) but I'm pleasantly surprised at my hometeam actually having a great season now after so many abysmal ones over the past two decades. Who Dey!

The "Ghost of Kyiv" - As much as I dread a potential war being invoked by Putin over Ukraine, somebody has to try to defend Ukraine from the invaders when worse comes to worst. This mysterious Ukrainian pilot/hero reportedly took down at least six Russian planes all by themselves on the first day of the invasion. Anti-Putin/anti-war protesters in Russia - Glad to see there's a lot of folks over in Russia who also don't want war any more than the Ukrainians (and anyone anywhere else in the world with a heart for that matter) and don't fall in lockstep with the ex-KGB guy who's apparently trying to bring back the Soviet Union. They clearly have more sense than a lot of the pro-Trump sheep we have in our own country. Tears For Fears - Just heard them on Colbert tonight. Good to see they've reunited and are still putting out good music.
